Our first stockist visit takes us to the bustling heart of Shoreditch, which can be considered the quintessential destination for East London fashionistas! From Liverpool Street to Brick Lane, take a trip among the super-cool thrift stores, secret sample sales, amazing street food, crazy graffiti and crowded vintage markets that make up Shoreditch's unique retail scene. A day out shopping in Shoreditch is fast becoming a an vital trip for stylish tourists visiting the city and locals alike, and the journey isn't complete without a trawl down Boxpark pop-up mall. Boxpark runs adjacent to Shoreditch High Street Station and hosts a variety of exciting independent brands. |It’s just a short stroll down the Boxpark stretch and we're at our destination, Playful Promises Boutique!
As one of the only permanent fixtures of Boxpark mall, Playful Promises Boutique boasts a lavish interior. Decked out with chandeliers, framed pin-ups and silky lingerie-lined walls, Playful Promises Boutique has also recently inherited its own store mascot dog! Goddy assists his owner -store manager Sonia- by looking cute and reeling in the shoppers!
By far the most decadent features of the shop are this cheeky neon sign and knicker-covered Mary statue!
As Whistle & Wolf is Playful Promises sister company, our new collection takes pride of place at the front of the store, ready to be browsed through! My personal favourite is the electric blue pleated dress which looks stunning hanging on the rails! I tried it on in the spacious changing room situated in the back of the shop and liked it so much I put it on hold to buy next week (a service that Playful Promises boutique can provide)!
Goddy keeps a keen eye out for prospective customers!
"I'm not a model, I swear"
We caught up with store manager Sonia:
How to you wear your Whistle & Wolf pieces?
I wear my Whistle & Wolf black satin shirt and black tuxedo jacket with black skinny jeans.
Describe your style?
Black ;) quite simple, not overly girly, quite rock!
What is your favourite place in London?
The British Museum
Who is your style icon?
Katherine Hepburn, I dress nothing like her though! If we're going contemporary I like Lou Doillon's style.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A racing car driver!
Goddy and Sonia bid us farewell (somewhat begrudgingly on Goddy's part)!
Be sure to visit the Shoreditch Boxpark boutique to check out Whistle & Wolf's new collection!
