With the news in this day and age you’d be forgiven for feeling the human race is doomed.  Whilst news is big business these days and we live in an age of information overload, if you look beyond this there is still so much happening that can take your breath away and release what amazing things humanity is capable of.

So in the spirit of positivity here are some inspirational thoughts to get you going.

The Discovery of an Alexander the Great era tomb at Amphipolis.

Greek archaeologists discovered a 2300 year old tomb in excellent condition with lavish detailing including sphinxes and elaborate mosaics depicting Hermes leading spirits to the afterlife.  This tomb being in such excellent condition gives archaeologists and social anthropologists the chance to have greater insight into our development.

The European Space Agency landed a probe on a comet in a first ever for space exploration.

Scientists hope this will teach us about more about comets and how they react when travelling near our sun. This was the culmination of many peoples’ entire lives work.  The scientist Monica Grady’s (who worked on tools for the craft) reaction sums up the emotion involved in this.

Malala Yousafzai and her work towards creating universal educational opportunities.

Malala is the youngest ever winner of a Nobel Prize at a mere 17 years old. It is quite incredible the work she has done to promote access to education for women in her own country.  She has had an assassination attempt on her life and has spoken to the UN and the prominent issue of access to education for all children including girls.

There are so many people working towards the advancement of the human race, it can be really exciting and heart-warming to look to the future.
